Stolp (Tower) Gallery,
Exhibition: The Story of Slovenian Potica
This Advent
season will be dedicated to potica, a traditional Slovenian dessert.
Potica is a treat that heralds holidays and family gatherings and is deeply
connected to Slovenian cultural heritage. The exhibition will be on display at
the Stolp Gallery at Bled Castle in December and January, and during this time,
visitors will also be able to enjoy fresh potica in the castle's restaurant.
"The
Story of Potica" exhibition will take visitors through the rich history
and tradition of making this Slovenian dessert. Photographs displayed in the
Stolp Gallery will illustrate the preparation process of this delicious treat, listing
and describing the ingredients, while the first floor of the Gallery will host
an exhibition of chocolate pralines with traditional potica fillings from four
Slovenian regions.
Renowned
experts are participating in the project, each contributing their unique
expertise. Dr. Janez Bogataj, an ethnologist, has shared his extensive
knowledge of the cultural heritage of potica and its significance in Slovenian
cuisine. Chef Sonja Jezeršek will bake potica specifically for the exhibition,
with her creative process thoroughly documented and presented in the displayed
photographs. For a modern potica twist, chocolatier Maks Pogačnik will recreate
various Slovenian potica flavours in the form of pralines.
The exhibition
will blend Slovenian cultural heritage with modern culinary art. It is intended
for all who appreciate history, tradition, and exquisite flavours. The
exhibition opening will take place on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
in the Knights' Hall at Bled Castle.
