Bled Castle, Museum Hall,
Visiting exhibition: Krapina Neanderthals
Bled Castle is hosting a visiting exhibition
Krapina Neanderthals, designed by the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, as the first
collaboration project of two major cultural institutions specializing in
preserving history and heritage.
Bled Castle is known for its rich history and
museum collections that take visitors through the dynamic history of Bled, from
the first settlers to the present day. In 2024, the castle, one of Slovenia’s
iconic cultural monuments, received the Živa Award for Best Slavic Heritage
Site in recognition of its exceptional value and significance in the broader
European context.
The Krapina Neanderthal Museum, situated near
the Hušnjakovo Hill in Krapina, Croatia, is dedicated to preserving and
researching one of Europe's most important archaeological sites, dating back
130,000 years. In 2015, the Museum was awarded the European Heritage Label for
its contribution to preserving and exploring shared European history.
The Krapina Neanderthals exhibition was
designed by Jurica Sabol, Director of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje. Visitors
to Bled Castle will enjoy the amazing presentation of the life and culture of
the Neanderthal man and fossil remains of prehistoric animals.
The exhibition is a unique opportunity to
acquire a better understanding of the historical and cultural connections
between Slovenia and Croatia and their shared roots.
