HOLIDAYS EMBRACED BY ART
Exhibitions During the Festive Season
During the festive season, three exhibitions will be on view at Bled Castle, each telling its own story of tradition, creativity and the identity of Bled.
The exhibition by the Bled Culture Institute, The Story of Potica – At the Festive Table, displayed in the STOLP Gallery, brings together two seemingly different yet closely related crafts – pottery and the baking of potica. It reveals the symbolism behind one of the most iconic Slovenian dishes.
On the upper terrace, the exhibition Castle Blossoms by Barba Štembergar Zupan and Niko Zupan showcases ceramic winter flowers shaped by clay and fire. These blossoms never wither; instead, they stand as delicate reminders of eternity, creating a poetic and enchanting winter ambience.
In the Bitenec Room, visitors can view the Bled Calendar 2026, now a traditional project of the Bled Culture Institute. It brings together photographic perspectives of local creators and selected works by academic painter Ejti Štih, who will be featured next year in the project Faces of Bled.
Exhibition: The Story of Potica – At the Festive Table
The exhibition connects two seemingly different, yet fundamentally connected, activities — pottery and potica-baking. Both originate in a tradition of patience, precision, and respect for the material, as well as the time the material needs to mature.
Exhibition: Castle Blossoms – Barba Štembergar Zupan and Niko Zupan
The exhibition Castle Blossoms by Barba Štembergar Zupan and Niko Zupan will, with ceramic flowers born of clay and fire, create a space of light, peace, and warmth.
Exhibition: Bled Calendar 2026
Every year, the Bled Culture Institute traditionally publishes a calendar for the coming year, featuring motifs of Bled.
CASTLE FAIRY-TALE SETTING
Festively Adorned Castle
During the festive season, Bled Castle glows in enchanting adornments that transform every corner into a perfect December backdrop. Light, winter hues and carefully selected decorations create a fairy-tale atmosphere and offer countless photogenic moments – from viewpoints above the lake to intimate castle nooks, ideal for unforgettable holiday photos.
The charm of the festive days is further elevated by the Dance with the Lord of the Castle, which brings the courtyard to life four times and invites visitors into a world of castle elegance and seasonal cheer. A special warmth is added by the Nativity Scene in the castle chapel, thoughtfully prepared and set within the peaceful ambience of the chapel, where visitors can pause for a moment and feel the spirit of one of the most cherished Christmas traditions.
The festively adorned Bled Castle is the perfect choice for creating your most beautiful memories – romantic, family moments, or simply those filled with the magic of the season.
Nativity Scene at Bled Castle
This year, Bled Castle once again brings to life one of the most cherished symbols of the Christmas season – the nativity scene. It invites visitors to embrace the warmth, reflection, and festive spirit that accompany the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
