Castle Grape Harvest and Spring Vine Pruning

FRUITS OF TRADITION

Spring Vine Pruning

The late winter and early spring season at Bled Castle brings one of the most important vineyard tasks – vine pruning. This symbolic act marks the beginning of a new wine story, written throughout the year in leaves, blossoms, and fruit. The pruning of the young vine at Bled Castle is not just a technical task, but a meaningful moment in the relationship between humans and nature. The vintner combines knowledge, experience, and respect for the plant, which has thrived for over a decade at an elevation of 599 meters. As part of the cultural program, visitors can hear stories about the vine, its origins, and its role in Slovenian wine and cultural heritage. The event is a tribute to perseverance, a symbol of growth, and a celebration of every new beginning.

Taste tradition with all your senses and raise a glass of wine that tells the story of time!
IN THE HEART OF THE CASTLE TERRACES

Castle Harvest at Bled Castle

Autumn at Bled Castle is marked by the festive harvest of the descendant of the world’s oldest vine, which has been growing since 2011 on the upper castle terrace. This vine, a gift from the city of Maribor, is a cutting from the famous vine from Lent – the oldest in the world – symbolizing a long-standing wine tradition and the resilience of nature. The event brings the castle to life with an ethnologically inspired program, cultural performances, and stories told by grapes, soil, and time. Visitors can take part in the symbolic grape harvest and taste Mladovita wine – a tribute to the connection between two wine regions and to Slovenian winemaking. The castle harvest is a celebration of tradition, the land, and the vine that thrives high above the lake, bringing people together in a shared moment of harvest.
