The Story tree in the sign of snakes

Monday, 28. 09. 2026

In September, we joined the National Month of Reading Together with the Story Tree event, which this year was dedicated to discovering the fascinating world of snakes. In the Castle Park, the youngest visitors listened to fairy tales, enjoyed creative workshops, and got moving on a fun activity course. A particularly special experience was the encounter with snakes, which gave children the opportunity to discover their world in a safe, relaxed, and playful way.

Silva Kos and Katarina Perger from the A. T. Linhart Library Radovljica introduced the children to the fairy tales *The Enchanted Princess* and *The White Snake with a Little Crown*. Afterwards, the children let their imagination run free in creative workshops and enjoyed a fun activity course. A highlight of the event was a 30-minute interactive encounter with snakes, during which the children learned more about their lives, observed them up close, and even had the opportunity to touch them.

The session was led by Aleš Abram from Bioexo, the Society of Exotic Animal Enthusiasts, and was designed primarily to help children become familiar with snakes in a safe and relaxed environment, while overcoming any possible fears and prejudices.

We encourage reading every day, not only during special events. Hidden in the Castle Park is a book exchange point where visitors can leave a book they have already read and choose a new one to take with them. In this way, stories travel from one reader to another, with each book finding a new home.
